Jamaican fans are clamouring for the return of Mavado after the release of Vybz Kartel from prison.
Mavado is still in demand internationally. Earlier this year, Mavado hit a Billboard singles chart for the third time in his career.
His collaboration, ‘Blessed’, with Ghanian Afrobeats singer KiDi has moved up from seven to number two on the Billboard Triller Global Chart. The song is spending its third week on the tally.
KiDi, who is 29 years old and best known globally for ‘Odo’, conquered all comers in 2022, copping Artiste of the Year, Album of the Year and Most Popular Song of the Year at the Ghana Music Awards.
Mavado previously hit the Billboard charts with ‘Weh Dem a Do’ and ‘So Special’. ‘Weh Dem a Do’ reached number 27 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop chart in 2007 while in 2008, ‘So Special’, which is featured on the Unfinished Business rhythm by TJ Records, rose to number 52.
Mavado’s next assignment is the return of his birthday bash, which is scheduled for December 10 in Queens, New York.
