Travis Ellis, who has been linked to the killing of beloved veteran BarbaraGayle has confessed to her murder.The suspect, in a cautioned statement, said he killed Gayle for her Benz with plans to later sell it.
Residents of the ‘Gulf’, an informal settlement in Gregory Park, said that Travis Ellis, the main suspect in the murder, was spotted driving Gayle’s Benz in the community. He offered several stories as to how he came to be in possession of the vehicle, explaining to some residents that he had rented the vehicle, while he told others that his ‘scammer uncle’ had bought him the vehicle but he was willing to let it go for a price.
After the residents of ‘Gulf’ discovered that Ellis was lying, men from the community reportedly beat him and fired shots at him. Ellis then reportedly abandoned the vehicle and hid in the bushes in Grange Lane where he was found by cops.
Gayle’s GLE 180 Mercedes Benz was found along the Dyke Road in Portmore, St Catherine, a day after she was found dead.
Ellis was charged with murder and robbery with aggravation.
He’s scheduled to appear before the St. Catherine Parish Court next week.
Ms. Gayle was found dead at her residence on December 17.
Her body had multiple stab wounds.
Her motor vehicle, which was stolen by her killer, was found a day later in bushes along the Dyke Road in Portmore, St. Catherine.
Ellis was arrested by the police while hiding in bushes in Grange Lane, St. Catherine, last week.
An autopsy on Ms. Gayle’s body is reportedly scheduled for next week.
