Reggae artiste Jahmiel is banking on a new single, Real People, an introspective gem of a song celebrating the ‘real people’ who continue to choose righteousness and love
“This song was inspired by my observations of certain people towards each other. I asked : what if everyone had the same mindset where we were always aggressive and defensive towards each other? Quick to run f=to violence, the world wouldn’t be a place to live in, it would be so chaotic. So this song is to show appreciation to all those people who value others, who value life, value righteousness and choose peace over war, the Real People,” Jahmiel explained.
“As you know, life cannot exist on without love, love is necessary, real people is necessary, genuine people is necessary, without a shoulder to lean on in hard times, how many of us would have made it to see another day?”
The single will lead out the Strongest Soldier’s new album, the follow up to his critically-acclaimed sophomore project, Legend which will be released in March 2024.
“The theme of the album is inspirational, uplifting music. I wrote the songs and most of the songs were produced by German from Big Ship which are a mix of Afrobeats, reggae and dancehall. The tracks are a mix of romantic songs for the girls, and motivational songs,” Jahmeil said.
The album will feature collaborations with fellow artistes such as Govanna and Charly Blacks. US-based indie label Sweet Music Production is bankrolling the project.
The Strongest Soldier’s sophomore album Legend, released on April 15 via Sweet Music, failed to debut on the sales and streaming-driven Billboard Reggae Albums chart last year. The album, which featured heavyweight artistes like Masicka, Stonebwoy, Vershon, and Bugle, generated a lot of streaming on online music platforms like Spotify and Apple Music.
” The songs, especially Legend, did very well, streaming millions of views on Spotify,” Jahmeil said.
The Story of My Life singer had previously debuted on the Reggae chart with his first album, titled Great Man, which had spent one week at No. 6, back in 2019.
In late December, Jahmeil wowed a massive crowd of over 50,000 with a fiery performance at the Bhim concert in Accra, Ghana that showed his emergence as one of dancehall’s top acts. A clip of Jahmeil performing Better Tomorrow in front of an audience that sang the lyrics word for word, went viral on Instagram and Tiktok. The singer also got major ovations for Strongest Soldier, U Mi Luv, Story of My Life and Legend, his collaboration with Masicka. The Accra show also featured African giant, Stonebwoy.
The Strongest Soldier singer also rocked stage shows in Dominica, Trinidad and The Bahamas over the past month.
Some of his upcoming engagements include a European tour which is scheduled for the Summer 2024, the Nigeria Festival which is scheduled for Niger, and the Sweet Music music festival for May 2024.
“I am going hard in 2024,” Jahmeil said.
