Born Delmar Whyte in the parish of St James, the 28 year old currently resides in Trench Town, the heart of Kingston known for producing the king of Reggae Bob Marley and another popular dancehall entertainer, dancer Bogle.
The former Norman Manley High School past student has only been making music professionally for 3 years.
Hot Brain’s musical influences include Sizzla Kolonji, Bounty Killa and Vybz Kartel. He has carved out a reputation as a dynamic stage performer one stage show at a time, rocking shows both in his community and at various venues and events around Jamaica. He has performed as either opening act or sharing the stage with other well-known artistes such as Sizzla, QQ, Turbulance, Beenieman, Lady Saw, Aidonia and many others.
In 2013 Hottbrain signed to Grammidon Records when England-based owner Adrian Ricardo Richards heard about his outstanding live performances and inked him to a deal.
Last month, Grammidon Records released the artiste’s first official mixtape entitled ‘Hot Vibez’ which led to calls from the promoters of Sting.
“From Grammidon Records, the ting a happen, from nothing to something. Big up Adrian, him ah do good, mi life comfortable, more shows and benefits, right now, the progress is a motivation,” Hotbrain said.
Adrian Richards, Grammidon Records chief executive officer, believes that Hottbrain will make a massive impact on the dancehall scene in 2015, and wants fans to look out for new singles, collaborations and stage performances.
“He is the new act to watch in 2015. Just watch,” Richards said.
