Montego Bay-based dancehall entertainer Squash has been released from police custody after being detained for more than five months. His release comes one day before the State of Emergency in St. James is set to officially end.
Squash, whose given name is Andre Whittaker, was detained last August under the state of emergency in St James. He retained the services of Queen’s Counsel Tom Tavares Finson. He rose to prominence during his incarceration with songs such as ‘Lavish’, ‘Ova Come’, ‘Trending’ and ‘Money Fever’.
In a video on Instagram, Squash sings, “Wash away my sins, wash away my sins, wash mi truly … mi want yuh prove me Fada God. Look how much fight, look pan six boss me neven hype…”
The artiste, in the 26-second video, also said that popular entertainment manager Heavy D is a member of his team.
