Word on the street is that Fantan Mojah, who has reportedly been ill for some time, has taken sick in Martinique. He is in the island for the Reggae Therapy show alongside Alpha Blondie, Christopher Martin and Etana.
Fantan Mojah has been experiencing heart problems and at one time last year, members of his circle said his “heart was at at 15 per cent” efficiency.
Fantan Mojah was born in White Hill, St Elizabeth. To gain experience, he took a job working with a travelling sound system, and performed songs during sound checks. He adopted the name ‘Mad Killer’, in a homage to one of his favourite artistes, Bounty Killer. After being exposed to the Rastafarian movement, his music began to take on a more positive tone, and he was encouraged by Capleton to take the name Fantan Mojah.
Fantan Mojah had a breakthrough in 2005 after the release of his first album, Hail the King. The album continues to garner successful results worldwide.
