Former member of parliament for St. Mary, Joylan Silvera has now been charged with his wife’s murder. Silvera’s wife, Melissa, had previously been announced as having died of natural causes.

Yesterday, there was a video is currently in circulation showing the former public official being put into a private car by police in handcuffs.

The death of Melissa Silvera was initially ruled as dying from natural occurrences, however, an autopsy report now reveals that the victim possibly died of gunshot wounds as per the Jamaica Constabulary Force (JCF) hierarchy.

According to the Deputy of Police in charge of the Crime and Security Portfolio, Fitz Bailey, after the newly found evidence, they quickly launched a counter-investigation into the matter and reassigned the case to the Major Investigation Taskforce (MIT).
