Members of the Jamaica Defence Force are in mourning after a retired soldier was gunned down and his licensed firearm stolen by armed attackers. The murder happened at about 12:45 a.m. on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Clifford Edwards, a 59 year old retired soldier of an Old Harbour Glades, St. Catherine address.

Reports are that Edwards was shot and killed by unknown assailants as he entered his home. His attackers absconded with his licensed Smith and Wesson 9mm pistol.

Investigations continue.
