Isat Buchanan, the lawyer representing dancehall star Vybz Kartel, is alleging that the World Boss is reportedly suffering from an autoimmune disorder known as Graves disease. He visited the King of Dancehall on Monday and reported that he was not in great shape. He spoke with FOX 5 New York where he revealed the medical condition of the entertainer and the state of his prison cell.
“His face is actually swole (swollen) and as I said, one a di things he always wear glasses because the condition that he has causes his eyes to protrude,” Buchanan said.
It is allegedly exacerbated by a 23-hour prison lockdown placed on the deejay following the discovery of cellphones within his cell. Buchanan painted a grim portrait of the conditions under which the deejay is being housed.
“He is in a cell, and if you can picture a brick oven because that’s how those cells are built, the ventilation is next to none,” Isat Buchanan argued.
Lisa Evers of Fox 5 claimed that she has a sworn medical affidavit from Vybz Kartel’s private doctor Karen Phillips which outlined that Kartel’s Graves disease and heart condition are getting worse, and without surgery, “he could die.”
However, Kartel’s condition has been known for some time and he is being treated for his condition. Graves’ disease can become fatal when it is left untreated. However, getting treatment and making the appropriate lifestyle changes will significantly improve your outcome and quality of life. That’s because with the disease, your immune system attacks your thyroid — a small, butterfly-shaped gland at the base of your neck. Eating foods that have large amounts of iodine—such as kelp, dulse, or other kinds of seaweed—may cause or worsen hyperthyroidism.
