Even with a growing pro-ganja lobby led by high-profile politicians position themselves to cash in on the legalization movement, Bob Marley had already secured a deal with a private equity firm in the US through the family of late reggae star Bob Marley in hopes of building what it touts as the “world’s first global cannabis brand.”

The Seattle-based Privateer Holdings says it has reached a licensing deal with Marley’s heirs to offer marijuana strains, including ones famed in Jamaica.

It also plans to sell weed-infused lotions, creams and various accessories.
