With a name like The Ultimate, you can only imagine the pressures that rest on his shoulders to perform at the highest level in music. But he is ready for the challenges.

It is not everyday that you find a young dancehall act who is not a rastafarian who espouses consciousnessness, spirituality, justice and truth in the music they produce. But interestingly, The Ultimate makes it work, generating a lot of support from the dancehall community, which has begun to reject the gun worship and bling bling culture, even as they find that they themselves are becoming victims of violence.

"I'm on a mission. I want my music to uplift the youth and take them in a positive direction, and the people are responding. People love the 'I Wish' song and then the dancehall community is rallying around Look Around You, they have a premiere video thing at Uptown Mondays next week," he said.

Released almost two months ago, Look Around You is currently enjoying strong rotation on FM radio locally and is also getting strong support from several sound-system selectors in the dancehall.

"The disc jockeys have begun to recognise me more, I am getting a lot of airplay on IRIE, and I have done premieres on HYPE TV, things are looking up, I am trying to get on stage shows and get my message out there," he said.

The Ultimate's message appears to be doing just that, because the song, I Wish, jumped on an Internet reggae chart in Italy, and is #7 on a radio duplate chart in France.

"We have to be a beacon to ghetto yutes, all is not lost, Jamaica can be a paradise again, we just need to do the right thing, be positive, and never stop reaching out to the youths, there is good in everybody, and dreams can become a reality," The Ultimate said.
