Several artistes have confirmed that they will be at this year's Captain Barkey tribute dubbed PortFest. The show will be held in Portmore on October 12th.
Organised by the family and friends of Wayne 'Captain Barkey' Hamilton and the independent reggae label, Rebel Soulz, "Port Fest: Tribute to Captain Barkey" will honour artiste's memory at Waves Beach in Portmore, St. Catherine. "We had to do something to mark the passing of Captain Barkey, he contributed a lot to the business. As a soldier, he used to jump outta jeep and mash up dance and him and him soldier jump back inna jeep and drive off. He got his first hit with , Sound of the Gun, changed his name from General Barkey to Captain Barkey, and then his career took off. Mi have to keep the event in respect to his contribution and a tribute to his time in music,"Otis 'Beego Blood' Ellis, brother of the late Captain Barkey, said. Artistes who have been confirmed for the tribute concert include Jah Bouks, Wickerman, Lady G, Terror Fabulous, Pliers, Villa Dutch, Beego Blood, and Chuck Fenda. The emcee for the event will be Beekie Bailey.
