Dancehall artiste Zumjay has secured an international distribution deal with US-based VPAL Music for his Capcha Music label.
Over the weekend, he released a video for the first single, Shell Shock, on the Capcha Music label. The song, a collaboration with Zumjay and Alozade, was released on April 14, 2017 and is available on multiple online music vendors for purchase.

"Shell Shock is an authentic dancehall song, we ah shell the place like a peanut, just a feel-good vibe. We also did a video directed by Dameon Gayle that was shot in Kingston, Jamaica, and which was released last weekend. The response has been phenomenal so far, and we will be amping up the promotion in several markets all over the world," he said.

The deejay will be coming to Jamaica later this month to do street promotion and a media junket to promote the song. Zumjay says he wants to make a positive contribution to dancehall music, and inspire young people from the ghetto to pursue their dreams.

"I love music, that is my first love. I do it for the love, not for the money, I don't depend on it for survival. With my 9 to 5 job, I can work at my own pace, and do music at a constant pace, and choose the right time to put out my songs," he said.

He recently performed at the annual Red Berry concert, and he has shared the stage with Dexta Daps at a show in Mt. Vernon, New York last year.

Last year, he released 'Combat Zone', produced by the Billboard chart-topping producer Steven 'Lenky' Marsden, a song with gritty lyrics about the similarities of life in the ghetto and life on the battlefield as it relates to the struggles the youth face in their daily lives. This song had a deeper subtext because of Zumjay's experience with military firefights while on tour of duty with the US armed forces in Afghanistan.

In 2014, Zumjay graduated from the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centre (FLETC) in the United States. He is now working in a role in the US Federal government.
Zumjay grew up in Waterhouse and attended Kingston College then Hydel High School. At age 18, he began working as an apprentice studio engineer for Donovan Germain's Penthouse Records.

Zumjay was the engineer for the session that produced Beres Hammond and Buju Banton's Pull up the Vibes remix, as well as Beenie Man's Crazy Notion. In 2000, he got the breakthrough as an artiste with the song, Courtney, celebrating West Indies fastbowler Courtney Walsh's feat of being the first bowler to reach 500 wickets in Tests.

Other popular Zumjay songs include 'Shake it' for Steven 'Lenky' Marsden, and 'Dancing Team' for producers Claude Mills and Carlington Wilmot of Media House Productions.

He migrated to the United States in 2007.
