A young teenager who is facing the court in a wrongful death case where he rescued a baby from a deranged man appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrates court earlier this week.

The accused, an 18 year old who is in custody, but not yet charged did not appear in court that day.

The court documents revealed that the 18 year-old's mother was constantly being abused by his father, and on the day in question, the man grabbed the younger child, a baby and threatened to kill the child and himself, if the mother didn't return to a relationship with him.
The court heard that the man ran with the child but the 18 year old pursued him. Eventually, he managed to rescue the baby, and when the man attacked him, he hit the man with a stone. The man later succumbed to his injuries.
The 18 year old was not in court because at that time, he had not been officially charged. The judge, Resident Magistrate Lyle Armstrong ordered that if the teen had not been charged by 6 p.m. that day, he should be released and if he were charged, then he should appear in court next Monday, February 16th.
