Dancehall artist Stylysh has been banned from performance at the popular 689 By Brian Lumley restaurant. Stylysh who even recorded a video for her upcoming release Gypsy in preparation for this performance is deeply saddened and feels completely disrespected because the decision was made after she used a sexually provocative picture on a flyer advertising the event. She has been forced to relocate the performance to The Gentry in the Bargain Mall on July 10th.

Considering the fact that the show was set for July 09, 2014 and was signed off and confirmed since May 16, 2014. Since then Stylysh have had multiple bookings outside of Jamaica, but refuses to take them because it would be conflicting to her 689 date

With less than three weeks to go and promotion in full swing; Mr. Lumley decided to drop the first lady of Sparta calling her flier raunchy and distasteful also saying that her music does not fit his brand. Further went into rage knowing that the flier went viral on the social network. Stylysh marketing/branding and PR team Smokin Acez Media Consultants was contacted and ask to make changes to the flier of which there were no objections they wasted no time and changed the flier in less than a hour even though they saw nothing wrong with the images. However that did not stop Mr. Lumley from the canceling the night.

For Mr. Lumley to site that the first lady does not fit his brand is absolutely crazy, then did Magnum Kings and Queens, Digicel, Wrays and Nephew all get something wrong or is Mr. Lumley stating his brand is better than some of Jamaica's most inspiring and innovative brands. Dancehall has been apart of our culture for more than 40 years and has transcended the world making it possible for entrepreneur such Mr. Lumley to have a voice. The Dancehall culture live in all of us even in our Prim Minister, but i truly doubt she would be so disrespectful to a rising artist much less the culture. Shame on you Mr. Lumley, maybe you should be reminded of our motto out of many one people. Maybe this is why 689 has been struggling to stay afloat.

Which lead us to ask these questions; is this a direct hit against the first lady of Sparta? Is Dancehall music not welcome in 689 by Brian Lumely? Are Dancehall aritst only meant to take pictures and patronize the restaurant to give it publicity? or why was the date even confirmed to begin with Mr. Lumley? We might not ever get a answer from Mr. Lumley, but one thing is for sure Stylysh might be a bit hurt and confused, but she will not dwell on split milk, and send her apologies to the fifty people who already purchased tickets in anticipation of the star studded event. We urge you to keep it locked to the social networks as the event will be moving to another location which will be announced soon.
