Reggae singer-engineer-producer Ras Goldy was involved in a serious car accident last week that damaged his shoulder and elbow.

The accident took place when the singer was heading back to Kingston after a show. He was travelling in the back of a car with fellow artiste, Chan Dizzy before the accident occurred at the Treadways roundabout  outside Linstead.

"I could have died, mi haffi give thanks. Mi just see the roundabout a rush towards we and then mi just black out. Everybody fly outta the car except the driver. Mi end up inna Linstead hospital with cuts and bruises. Right now, mi elbow and shoulder fractured, and behind mi ears swell up, but mi grateful to be alive," he said.

He recently released an EP called 'Beware of Bad Lion' which features five songs by producers such as DJ Blizzard, Kantriman and Strike Gold Records. One of the songs is a combination with reggae star Richie Spice . He will be releasing a video for the single, 'Eye Red' on the Gold Rush riddim. The riddim is now available on iTunes.

Ras Goldy is best known for the combination hit song with Chronixx called 'Mini' where the artistes extol the virtues of women in short skirts. At the time, members of the rasta community believed that such sentiments should not be expressed by anyone representing the Rastafarian faith.

"Yes, mi hear the critics dem a talk, dem a say how bobo ah sing bout mini and a bagga tings but even most of them have to admit that it has a great melody. Music is music, politics is politics and mi no see nothing wrong wid the song," engineer-singer-producer Goldy said at the time.

The song samples an original song recorded by singer Willie Francis, 'Oh What a Mini', and which soared to the #1 position in the 1970s. Willie Francis is the father of Fabian 'Goldy' Francis so he is a second generation musician.
