Mavado did not perform during the 2011 edition of the Montreal International Reggae Festival on Saturday, a development that has sent promoters in the United States scrambling because of its broader implications. Will Mavado then be granted a work permit to perform on the Reggae R & B show planned for September 4th? And is the US tour still on?

A release from the organisers of the reggae festival announced over the weekend that:

"Out of over 300 international acts annouced over the 8 years of the festival's history, the Mavado no show marks only the 3rd time that MIRF was unable to deliver advertised artists. Gyptian will now be closing the Dancehall night."
