The seemingly never-ending parade of local dancehall stars continues next week with Vybz Kartel facing the courts on murder charges while his former mentor Bounty Killer is set to face the Gun Court on June 20th to begin his long-awaited trial on charges of illegal possession of firearm, assault and unlawful wounding.

The artiste, whose real name is Rodney Price, is on bail and is charged jointly for illegal possession of firearm, assault at common-law and unlawful wounding arising from an incident on September 27, 2007.

It is reported that an off duty policeman left a club and noticed a number of vehicles along St Lucia avenue blocking a section of the roadway.

He told the men to clear the roadway when he was reportedly attacked, and a gun allegedly pointed at him. Bounty Killer buried his mother earlier this year in a much-publicised funeral attended by many industry insiders. Mama Ivy was Bounty's moral compass and confidante throughout his turbulent career and one wonders how he will carry on without this 'rock' in his life. We wish him all the best.
