International recording artiste Kiprich returned to Jamaica after a successful show at the Folk Festival XXXIX of Culture and Sports in the Providencia and Santa Catalina Islands in Colombia last week.
Kiprich performed a two hour set studded with his reggae hits, ‘Telephone Ting’, ‘Baby Mama Drama’, ‘Letter’, and ‘Bun fi Bun’. The ingenious Kiprich also created an  “incarcerated artiste” segment where he asked his selector, Alex Frass of Swatch International, to play hit songs from dancehall superstars Busy Signal, Vybz Kartel and Buju Banton. The crowd loved the gesture, roaring each time the hit songs blared out of the giant speakers.
“The venue was packed with people, and I felt great because I actually closed the show after some major Columbian artistes had performed. My reggae songs are huge over there but dem love the incarcerated artistes segment because we played three songs each for Buju, Kartel and Busy Signal, the crowd mash up when mi do it,” Kiprich said in a release.
Kiprich closed his set at a few minutes after 6 a.m. with the sun rising like a big orange ball in the morning sky.
The islands, which has a population of 5,000 inhabitants, is located 50 miles from the major island of San Andres in Colombia. The Mayor of the island, Arturo Robinson was also present at the event which is an official concert held annually by the municipality to showcase the country’s culture. Other artistes who performed on the show included Colombian stars Canele Caribe, Creole Fusion, Orchestra The Rebel, Jiggy D, Black Talent, Bertha Hooker and Don Omar.
In the meantime, Kiprich’s latest hit, ‘See It Clear’, on the Sajay Productions imprint hit #19 on the HYPE TV Top 20 charts last week.
“Another one of my singles, Sex Ride, is very big in Guyana and Nicaragua, and I will be heading to these countries right after I do Dancehall Night on Sumfest,” Kiprich said.
Kiprich recently recorded a radio hit called ‘Grill Fly’ alongside Ninjaman that has been doing well in the Caribbean and the UK, and a new single called 'Body Great' on the Chase Millz Records/Jah Snowcone Ent label has been getting a lot of airplay.
