New York-based dancehall artiste Dquan may have found his breakout hit given the buzz around his latest single, Dem Nuh Real' on the Bad Fever riddim, in the tri-state area.

The song, which is released on Kheilstone Music (KSM) imprint, has become a fixture on several mix tapes in the boroughs of Brooklyn, Bronx and Queens, and has just begun to get some traction on local FM radio in Jamaica.

"This song has the potential to be my biggest song to date, and I have just released the 'Dem Nuh Real' video and it is getting a lot of love online so far. I will be returning to Jamaica in March-April to push up promotions in the island," the artiste whose real name is Damain Staple, said.

Dquan grew up in the parish of Manchester, Jamaica. While growing up, his grandmother was his greatest influence, instilling in him a passion for music at  the tender age of nine. Dquan humbly credits her for allowing him to find and nurture his voice and connect with his inner self to create quality music.

"I grew up around music, I have been in the church choir and been a drummer, and I have always loved to sing," he said.

Some of his musical influences include Bob Marley, Akon, Sanchez, Beres Hammond, Frankie Paul and many others. Still, Dquan strives to maintain his own musical versatility and style as shown in songs on his 14 song new mixtape, 'Hustle'. Female fans will love songs  such as  "Something About You" where he shows off his singing chops while also showing his versatility tackling social topics singing about the harsh realities of life in another breakout song,  “Too Much Suffering”.

Familiar with the stage, he has carved out a reputation in New York performing on dancehall stage shows alongside artistes such as Lady Saw, Mega Shock, Da Professor and Lustah. He also performed at a club show in Trinidad last year.  Now, his eyes are firmly focussed on chart success.

"Right now, I am just going after my first major hit. In the future, I  would like to develop my own label, and collaborate with major artistes," he said.

He is working on a collection of new singles that will be released this year on the Most Wanted Records label such as "Played Me For So Long." He has also collaborated with label mate Lustah in "Single Lady" and "Nah Get Weh".
