After eight days in jail, former Jamaica Labour Party councillor┬áDon Creary, was offered bail in the sum of $2 million on each of his rape charges when he appeared in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

Creary is facing two rape charges - of a 15-year-old girl in 2013, and a 19-year-old woman earlier this year. He was ordered to surrender his travel documents and report to the offices of the Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) three times weekly.

Creary had spent eight days in custody after he was arrested last Wednesday, along with co-accused Shaneke Williams, by cops from CISOCA.

He was being housed at the Constant Spring Police Station but was transferred to the New Horizon Remand Centre on Saturday after police complained that he was the recipient of too many visits.

Williams was offered bail on Monday in the sum of $1.5 million. She faces charges of aiding and abetting and sexual touching.

Both are to return to court on October 16.
