Former People’s National Party Senator, Basil Waite had his bail extended when he appeared in court earlier this week to answer charges of Attempting To Pervert The Course Of Justice. He will go on trial on May 5.

Waite was informed of the date when he attended the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday.

He had his $1 million bail extended.

Waite was arrested last October by the Major Organised Crime Agency and Anti Corruption Agency (MOCA) after a businessman, involved in a case of corruption against a policeman, complained to the police that Waite had approached hin with the intention of assisting the cop.

The businessman reportedly recorded the content of the meeting and handed the evidence over to the police.

While admitting that he met with the businessman, Waite has denied the allegations.
