Mob justice is making a belated return to Jamaican shores as communities are upset about the predators that walk among them. The action of Watts Town residents was swift and bloody as they hunted and chopped up  Orville 'Bull' Scarlett of Watt Town in St. Ann early this morning.

Detectives assigned to the St. Ann Police Division are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death today, August 31.

Scarlett had been named as a person of interest in the August 29 murder of his common law wife and the woman’s child. Orville Scarlett, also known as Bull, was asked to turn himself in to the police by midday on Thursday after he reportedly attacked his ex-girlfriend Allisha Francis and her three children as they arrived home about 9:30 pm Tuesday.

Francis and her 10-year-old son Teco Jackson were chopped to death, while her 12-year-old son, who was also chopped, remains in hospital. The woman's young daughter had run into a neighbour's home and escaped the melee.

Since the gruesome killing, residents of Linton Park and Watt Town, the community where Scarlett lived, have been scouring the community in a desperate hunt to apprehend Scarlett. Several persons reported that they saw him in sections of the Watt Town community, however, he continued to elude them. Eventually, he was found hiding under a cellar in the community. He was hacked to death by the residents.

Reports from the Watt Town Police are that he was killed at about 1:45 a.m. The police were summoned and he was seen lying in the back of a yard with chop wounds all over his body. He was taken to the St. Ann’s Bay Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The police are working assiduously to bring closure to this matter.
