The so-called "Hammer Trial" begins today with popular dancehall icon Bounty Killer set to face the music during his trial which begins today in the Corporate Area RM court.

The Alliance leader, whose real name is Rodney Pryce, is on an assault charge related to the wounding of his girlfriend.

The woman reportedly told cops at the Constant Spring Police station that he had used a hammer to beat her, and in a stroke of mad genius, he had also used a mosquito zapper and a chain to inflict bruises to her body, resulting in the complainant receiving 19 stitches, the police claim. Bounty has denied the allegations.

This is the second time this year that the deejay has faced the court on a domestic abuse charge. The previous case was adjourned when the complainant changed her mind and refused to go ahead with the prosecution of the deejay.
In the meantime, the deejay's  other case, a possession of ganja charge, was postponed until next year in the RM court. The deejay will have to return to court on March 7.

The deejay has pleaded not guilty to the charges of smoking and possession of ganja.
