The Pepsi Refresh Tour 2016, which began on July 15 and visited as far as Westmoreland, came to a strong close featuring Spice, Cham, Bugle and Busy Signal. Spice was up first getting the proceedings off to a start. The female artiste proclaimed she wanted to be closer to her fans, who responded by flooding through the barriers reserved for the VIP guests to be right up under the stage.

Armed with her Team Spice dancers, she reached out the female contingent, reeling off favourites like Needle Eye, Ben Ova, and Back Bend. She then took crowd interaction to the next level stepping off the stage to offer the crowd and up-close-and-personal performance of Indicator.

Bugle was next, adding a more cultural vibe to the event. However, there was no question as to who dominated the night as Cham brought something new and old to his set. Sounding like the best mixtape from the early 2000s, Sham dove through his impressive catalogue backed by a combination of musical tracks and backing from his amazing female drummer, Miami-based Australian Lisa Purmodh. Her live percussions gave the energetic performance even more impact. Cham ended with the audience screaming for his hit Ghetto Story. He delivered, throwing in the remix for bonus.

It was a tough act to follow, but Busy Signal was more than up to the task. Taking things up-to-date with the more modern dancehall edge, he put in a solid set including several of his popular songs such as Jail.

Buoyed by the success of the Pepsi Refresh Tour 2016, Watson was already willing to shed light on 2017.

“Refresh Tour 2017 will be bigger. Next year, we’re looking at probably doing two major events and we’re definitely looking at bringing two international performers,” he said.
