Man stabs teen to death by Althea Burrell, COURT REPORTER Featured

A St. Catherine man who stabbed a teenager to death six years ago pleaded guilty to the lesser charge of manslaughter. He was remanded until March 18, 2016 when he is to be sentenced .  


The accused, Jerome Powell, is a 23 year old labourer of Brown's Hall district in the parish. He is charged with the death of 17 year-old Nikko Johnson, who is also of Brown's Hall. 
Allegations are that on July 31, 2010, Powell and Johnson had a dispute when a knife was brought into play. The Crown led evidence that Johnson was stabbed in the abdomen, he was transported to the Spanish Town Hospital where he died as a result of the injuries received during the altercation. 
Powell appeared before Justice Bertram Morrison.
