Dancehall superstar Macka Diamond grabbed a paint brush and rolled up her sleeves recently to help give the Grove Primary school in St. Andrew a makeover as part of a joint venture between Kiwanis Club of Eastern St. Andrew and Team Macka.

“Charity is always in my heart, and after performing on Shaggy and Friends early this year, I decided that I wanted to do much more giving back this year, and it was a great experience giving Grove Primary a nice makeover,” Macka Diamond said.
Fellow Team Macka members such as Kiwanian Leesah Larmond, head of Macka Diamond’s Management Team and popular dancehall personality Timry, were also in attendance.
“As a Kiwanian, we are always on these type of projects, projects of enhancement and advancement, and this one was no different…assistance was needed, it came up on our radar, and we did it, it’s that simply,” Mrs. Larmond said.
Principal of Grove Primary, Mrs. Catherine South was on site to express her gratitude to The Kiwanis Club of Eastern St. Andrew and Macka Diamond first hand. She lamented that the school has been in need of dire assistance but praised the enthusiasm and self-lessness of Macka Diamond and her team who gave up their personal time to help.
What’s next for the Macka?
“We'll be heading to Florida, Panama and The UK and we’ll be heading back to Africa again. We just completed a video shoot for the 'Bigfoot' song and a track produced by Marcus Myrie entitled Karma, two songs that are creating havoc right now in the dancehall.”
