Mobay-based dancehall artiste Jessie James will premiere his new video, Flying Colours, on HYPE TV tonight.

On April 7th 1988 Jessie James was born to his parents as the sixth of eight children in Camperdown, St. Catherine, Jamaica. He began singing at a very young age and soon entered the church choir. But at the tender age of six a stroke of faith hit Jessie when his mother died. After the passing of his mother, Jessie and his siblings were split up and brought up in different children's homes all over Jamaica.

While growing up without any immediate family around, the music gave Jessie the strength to continue his life on a positive path. Whenever he felt stressed or down he would sing to lift his spirit. Or he would listen to the songs of Michael Jackson, Bob Marley, Kenny Rogers, Sizzla, Chris Brown, Junior Gong and many more, which always inspired him. At the age of fifteen he started to write his own lyrics and got together with friends to formulate the group “Faith”. They performed at several local functions and church events. But when Jessie was moved to another childcare’s home the group came apart.

Jessie's further life brought him through more parishes such as St. Andrew, St. Ann and St. James, where he went to school and worked in various trades, but always continued his musical path. In 2005 he tried his luck at “Rising Star” and made it to the Top 10 in his parish, but didn’t make it in the national top rank. Nonetheless he continued making music and recorded songs in various studios such as Bessout Productions, St. Elizabeth or Hard Street Records in Montego Bay.

At Hard Street Records he met producer Anil “Phantom” Montaque from Inspired Music Concepts. Phantom saw great potential in Jessie and decided to feature him on his MoBay Riddim, a selection with only the hottest artistes in Montego Bay. Since then Jessie has been putting out various singles on the Inspired Music Concepts label and he's also been on riddim selections with well renowned artists such as Warrior King, Fantan Mojah, Lutan Fyah, Tommy Lee Sparta and Masicka.

Being a very versatile singer, Jessie covers many genres like Soul, RnB, Reggae and Dance Hall. In Autumn 2012 hereleased “Flying Colours” on Inspired Music Concepts. The EP features eight tracks which cover all those genres andd give listeners a preview of what is to be expected of Jessie. He has since been featured on a single with renowned MoBay artiste Rickey Teetz and the video for the track 'Wen we a Party' has been on national TV regularly. February 2013 he released his first Mixtape 'Life Journeys'. It is a mix of urban music with cover songs of Rihanna and Chris Brown, many original dance hall songs and a sensational Reggae-Dubstep tune 'Roll it up'. Following the release of his mixtape he premiered the video for the title track of the EP 'Flying Colours' on youtube. Keep up to date with Jessie on his Facebook page and Twitter.
