Spanish Town Police detectives arrested four men for breaches of the Larceny Act on the Green Acres Main Road in Spanish Town, St Catherine on Sunday, March 27.

According to reports, while the lawmen were on an operation in the area around 4:30 am, checks were made at a telecommunications company’s site on Century Road, where four men were seen removing fibre optic cables.

Upon seeing the police they ran, in an attempt to make good their escape in a motorcar.

The police followed them and the vehicle was intercepted on the Green Acres Main Road where it was searched and found to contain large quantities of fibre optic cables.

The men were subsequently arrested, however their identities are being withheld pending further investigations.

The police have since made an appeal to persons to desist from engaging in such activities and are reminding citizens to contact the police’s emergency 119 number if anyone is seen engaged in these illegal activities.
