Chuck T is known in dancehall circles as a musical genius in a world where the term is used all too loosely. But this youngblood truly deserves the title because his exploits as the beatmaker beasting behind the boards in New York City, NY, cooking up wicked dancehall tracks, has built his legend. Now the legend is true because his latest beat, The Mercury, is arguably the top dancehall riddim out of Jamaica this year.
The journey of Raymond Bailey aka, “Chuck T, The (Image) Producer,” began when he was born in Kingston Jamaica, on September 30, 1985. He then moved to Passage Fort, Portmore where he resided and attended Portmore Primary School, after which he shortly migrated to the USA, to reside with his father whom he met at 7 years old, in Mount Vernon New York. Raymond resided with his father for only 4 years before his dad decided to send him back to Jamaica due to him misbehaving, and his bad behavior. While back in Jamaica, he attended Independence City All Age School, where he realized that there was something about music that kept him inspired, motivated, curious, and intrigued. He would knock on the benches with his ruler, pens, pencils and sometimes even his hands to make beats while his friends, fellow school and class mates would, freestyle, and as we call it in Jamaica, “Deejaying.” As Chuck T grew older he developed a passion, an uncontrollable urge, and drive for music more and more. He began to pay more
close attention to many artist, and producers, which inspired him such as, “Bob Marley and the Wailers, Jimmy Cliff, Sly & Robbie, Bounty killer, DMX, Jay Z, Biggie, Tupac, Dr Dre, Snoop, Spragga Benz, Dave Kelly, Beres Hammond, Snow Cone, Salaam Remi, P Diddy, Q Sean, Philip Smart, and Beenie Man,” to name a few. Upon attending Bridgeport High School in Portmore City, he earned the title of being the best drummer and recorder player in the school. As a result he began making beats, and song writing, at age 12 to entertain his friends, and family.
By 10th grade Raymond migrated back to the US where he now resides in the Bronx, New York, to complete his last 2 years of High School at John F. Kennedy High. This is where the name, “Chuck T,” was formulated, due to the numerous pairs of designer Converse sneakers that he had owned. Chuck T was even more driven towards music being that his cousin Q Sean, who is a Deejay, songwriter, entertainer and a performer, surrounded him.  Q Sean who is a friend of number one Bill Board producer Rohan Jah Snow Cone Fuller for more than 15 years, introduced Chuck T along with his music to Jah Snow Cone, who was blown away by how talented, universal, and diverse, his work was. Jah Cone has taken him under his wings, and as one can tell the rest is history. Chuck T has learnt musical production, and arrangements from his mentors, Rohan Snow Cone Fuller, Salaam Remi, and Wyclef. Together Snow Cone, and
Chuck T has created their own unique sound and did Riddim projects like South Bronx riddim, 7-11 Riddim & ital stew riddim, and has written and produced music for many artists such as, “Wyclef, Kat Deluna, Rick Ross, Magazeen, Sean Kingston, Spragga Benz, Vybz Kartel, Beenie Man, Bounty killer, Sizzla, Mr Vegas, Tearria Mari, Buju Banton, Assassin, Voice- Mail, Shaggy, Khago, Red Fox, Nadine Sutherland, T.O.K, Junior Reid, Q Sean, Ding Dong, Ova- Mars, Busy Signal, Lady Saw, Rayvon, Baby Cham, TifA, Savage, Mr Lexx, Kip Rich, Zumjay, Lutan Fire, Wayne Wonder, Bridgez, Flexx, Stacious, Stylish, Vado, Jadakiss,Camron, just to name a few.
