Man accused of killing Kadesha Cousins and dumping body in Rio Cobre, remanded

An accused man, Vivian Vernon otherwise called Anthony Vernon, was charged with murder, arson and assault occasioning bodily harm when appeared before Resident Magistrate Tara Reid Carr recently.   He was remanded until January 8, 2016.  
Allegations are that on November 9, 2014, the minor was placed on a Bayside bus by her mother who was at the time involved with Vernon for school in Portmore.
Upon reaching a section of Portmore, Vernon is alleged to have taken the minor off the bus and was seen throughout the day purchasing items for the child to eat.
When the child did not return, a report was made to the Central Village Police and an investigation launched. This led to the arrest and charge of the man when her body was found in the Rio Cobre river.
However when Vernon was granted bail on that count, he was remanded into custody on additional charges of committing arson and assault occasioning bodily harm in connection with his girlfriend amd her property.

In 2014, the body of Kadesha Cousins was found floating in the Rio Cobre, St Catherine. Kadesha had been reported missing two days earlier. 

The Central Village police said that she was last seen about 7:15 am at a bus stop in her community. A post mortem conducted on the body of 7 year Kadesha Cousins, has revealed that she received a blow to the head and later drowned.


Little Kadesha was found dead on Friday November 7, in the Rio Cobre in Saint Catherine, after she was reported missing the day before.


Kadesha Cousins who was a grade 2 student of Waterford Primary, was last seen when she was placed on a bus on her way to school.
