Senator Kamina Johnson Smith, Foreign Affairs Minister, says the Jamaican Consulate in Miami has received unconfirmed reports that at least two persons, who are believed to be Jamaicans, were casualties in the deadly attack at the gay night club in Orlando, Florida.

In a statement early this week, Senator Johnson Smith said efforts are underway to confirm the reports.

Franz Hall, Jamaica’s Consul General, explained that checks are being done through the Office of Foreign Missions and hospitals in Orlando, in an effort to confirm the reports.

Senator Johnson Smith has instructed the Consul General to remain in touch with the community and its leaders to provide support where possible.
