INDECOM has launched a probe into the death of  a murder suspect at the Black River Police lock-up in St. Elizabeth on Tuesday. The incident occurred shortly before 6:00 a.m.

In a statement Tuesday night, INDECOM said the police reported that the deceased was found in a pool of blood. Investigators have collected statements from personnel assigned to the police station.

The detainee has been identified as 26-year-old Roshane Baker of a Denham Town address in Kingston. Mr. Baker was charged two weeks ago in connection with the May 9 fatal shooting of District Constable Lewis Robinson in Lacovia, St. Elizabeth.

Preliminary reports are that Mr. Baker was involved in an altercation with other detainees. He was allegedly stabbed several times.
