Why would a Caucasian woman come to Jamaica to seek employment when thousands of Jamaicans are trying to get into the USA to gain opportunities there? That is the question most Jamaicans have been asking as police have identified the Caucasian woman whose body was on Saturday morning found with her throat slit along Long Hill, St James.

She has been identified as 26-year-old unemployed Desiree Hyacinth Gibbon of Queens, New York.

According to the police, Gibbon arrived in Jamaica on the 20th October and was given a three months stay in the country.

Since her arrival she has obtained a Tax Registration Number (TRN) and was actively seeking employment.

Reports are that about 7:30 Sunday morning the police were summoned by residents who stumbled upon Gibbon's body in bushes.

Upon their arrival the police saw the body, caked with blood.

No motive has been established for the killing.

Gibbon was positively identified by a close relative who last saw her Thursday night.

She was reportedly born in USA and was visiting Jamaica on a third time.
