Two men charged with cocaine find

Two men were charged with possession of cocaine, dealing in cocaine and taking steps preparatory to the exportation of cocaine when they were apprehended transporting 2.3 kilo grammes of cocaine with a street value of over $2.7 million. 

 

 
Both will appear in the St. Catherine Parish court on May 5th. 

The police blotter reported that on Sunday, at about 4 p.m, along the Causeway in the vicinity, Portmore Toll Plaza, St. Catherine, Detectives from the Narcotics Division were conducting anti-narcotics operations when they intercepted a White Toyota Axio motor car registration # 9626 HD driven by Donavan Cascoe, a 44 year old taxi operator of Scott District, Milk River Clarendon and accompanied by Kirk Robinson, a 46 year old mechanic of the same address.

The vehicle was searched in the presence and view of both men and a black plastic bag with two knitted bags marked Jablum Blue Mountain coffee and the other labeled Lasco Lasoy lactose free.

Further checks revealed two transparent packages with cocaine, one in the knitted coffee bag and the other in the Lasco bag.

The total cocaine weight of the cocaine is 2.3kgs valued at Ja.$2, 753, 100.00.

The suspects were taken along with the exhibits in their presence and view to the Narcotics Divisional Headquarters where the exhibits were processed by personnel from the Technical Services Division, Scenes of Crime Team. The motor vehicle was also transported by wrecker to the Narcotics Divisional Headquarters.

Efforts will be made to have the vehicle forfeited under the Dangerous Drugs Act as conveyance.

The investigation is ongoing.
