A St. Catherine taxi operator who is charged with the murder of two women was remanded again when he appeared in the St Catherine Circuit Court recently.

The accused, Joseph Walker, 30, from Orange Hill, Westmoreland, and Portmore, St Catherine, is charged with the deaths of Johnnoy and Nyoka Campbell (no relation), both from Glendevon, St James.

When Walker appeared before Justice Dale Palmer, he was ordered remanded until November 18, 2016, when the matter will again be mentioned.

The allegations are that in March 2012, the accused was the driver of the taxi that the two women chartered in Montego Bay, St James, to take them to the Boys and Girls' Athletics Championship, which was being held at the National Stadium in Kingston.

It is reported that they were last contacted by relatives upon reaching a section of St Catherine and were not heard from again.

A report was made to the police in St Catherine and an investigation launched. About a week later, the mutilated bodies of the two women were found in bushes near Spring Village, St Catherine.

The police continued their investigations which led to the arrest and charge of Walker in 2014. He was held in Portmore.
