A St. Catherine man is facing a charge of sexually assaulting his five year-old niece. The case was called up in the St. Catherine Parish court last week.

Iglesias Williams is charged for grievous sexual assault of his five year old niece, while the other uncle Joel is charged with threatening a witness. The complainant and the accused live on the same premises but in separate houses.

One876 understands that the child reported that her older uncle touched her private parts. The medical of the child showed that penetration was attempted.

Parish judge Ann-Marie McIntosh outlined that Joel was not the main accused and thus granted him bail in the sum of $150,000 with 1-2 sureties. He is to reside with Roger Blake at Tryall Heights and report on Mondays and Thursdays at the Spanish Town police station between the hours of 6 a.m and 8 p.m. He was ordered not to interfere with any of the witnesses in the case.

Iglesias Williams was remanded in custody, and is expected to return to court on February 3.

Attorney-at-law Ricardo Sandcroft, who represented both brothers, requested that both cases remain as one.
