Apparently, the family that steals light together, don't go to jail together. This New Age truism played itself out in court this when a father and son were jointly charged for  abstracting electricity. Both  appeared before Resident Magistrate Tara Reid-Carr in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrates' court earlier this week.

It is alleged that a joint contingent of police and Jamaica Public Service personnel conducted a search on September 21, 2015 and the home of the pair was found to be illegally connected.

However when they appeared, the charges against Rohan Dyer,  the son, was dismissed, while Keith Dyer pleaded guilty.

He was found to be operating two fans, deep freeze, two television sets,  5 light bulbs,  washing machine,  sewing machine and an iron with an estimated cost of $14,035 monthly.

He was then fined $60,000 or 30 days imprisonment.
