Three police officers who made their tenth appearance in the Spanish Town RM Court yesterday, will again have to wait a bit longer for their trial to begin.

"I know this is a three year old case but unfortunately I cannot hear the evidence today because I'm the only sitting resident magistrate for St. Catherine out of the five," RM Horace Mitchell explained.

Constables Gracey-Ann Williams and Lamore Small were represented by Peter Champagnie, while Corporal Tyrone Harvey by Kinghorn and Kinghorn firm.

The three officers are charged under the Anti-Corruption Act for soliciting.

It is alleged that over three years ago, the officers who were stationed at the Greater Portmore Police Station were on patrol on the Hellshire main road when they observed a vehicle parked which aroused their suspicion. When they went to investigate they saw two men in a compromising position.

Williams, Small and Harvey demanded $500,000 from the men who went to an ATM machine and withdrew a undetermined sum of funds and handed it to them.

A date was set for the balance to be handed over. It was then that a report was made and a sting operation done and the men caught.

Attorney Kinghorn outlined to RM Mitchell that the men were  reporting once per week and requested if that stipulation could be withdrawn because they have been unemployed  since the incident which makes it tedious for the officers involved.
