A policeman, charged with manslaughter, appeared in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrates' court earlier this week.

The accused, Corporal Mike Ebanks, is charged with the death of his colleague, Corporal Dwayne Thompson.

Earlier this week, Carol Gayle appeared in court in the case. Her brother, Ucal Gayle, who identified the body of Corporal Dwayne Thompson, died on July 4, 2015 and therefore Ms. Gayle appeared in the court recently on his behalf.

It is alleged that the accused Corporal Mike Ebanks, on April 18, 2015, was in pursuit of a suspect with Corporal Thompson.

Upon reaching McCooks Pen, the rain was falling heavily and Ebanks proceeded along the road, and the vehicles tyres fell in  a pothole and lost control of the service vehicle which collided in another vehicle.

Thompson succumbed to his injuries and Ebanks later charged with manslaughter.

He will return to court on March 28, 2016.
