Christopher Taylor delivered Jamaica’s first gold medal of the 9th IAAF World Youth Championships at the Pascual Guerrero Stadium in Cali, Colombia, when he lowered his own 24-hour-old Jamaican Youth Best 400m record to 45.27 seconds.

The 15-year-old Calabar High student powered home from American Josephus Lyles who was stride for stride with him for about 350 metres, but had to settle for silver and a personal best 45.46 seconds while another American, Keshun Reed, took the bronze in 45.96 seconds.
