On Monday, May 1, 2017, detectives from the Narcotics Division were conducting anti-narcotics operations along the coastline in the vicinity of Port Kaiser, Alligator Pond, Manchester.

A search conducted in the mangroves and bushes led to the seizure of thirty-eight (38) knitted plastic bags and a large black plastic garbage bag with a total of 246 rectangular parcels wrapped with brown masking tape.

Further examination of each parcel revealed compressed ganja with a total weight of 1,800 pounds. Also found among the drugs were items of clothing and a two burner gas stove.

The packages and items were processed by personnel from the Area 3 Scene of Crime team and thereafter transported to the Narcotics Divisional Headquarters Stores pending further investigation.

Investigation so far suggests that the drugs was destined for the drugs for guns trade within the region.

The investigation is ongoing
