Toots attacker gets 6 months sentence Featured

According to, William Connor Lewis, 20, of Henrico County, pleaded guilty to misdemeanour assault and battery yesterday in Richmond Circuit Court and also apologised for the incident.

Judge Margaret P. Spencer sentenced Lewis to 12 months' imprisonment, and then suspended six months of the term. The website said Lewis was scheduled to stand trial on a malicious wounding charge, but opted for a guilty plea at a lesser charge.
Hibbert, the leader of Toots and the Maytals, was hit in the head by a vodka bottle while performing at a concert in Richmond. Hibbert filed a $21 million lawsuit against Lewis and a $20 million lawsuit against Venture Richmond and Sports Backers for alleging inadequate security at the concert.
