Man charged with illegal possession of firearm @one876 Featured

A young man had his case transferred to the Gun Court when he appeared before Resident Magistrate Lyle Armstrong in the Spanish Town RM Court on February 10, 2015.

The accused, 20 year old Anthony Thomas, is charged with possession of an illegal weapon. Allegations read are that on January 30, 2015 at about 4:40 pm, police were on patrol in the Valdece Road area of Spanish Town when a group of men were sitting on a wall. On approaching the group of men, Thomas was observed removing an object from the front of his waist. He was chased and held and later charged with possession of an illegal weapon. His mother, who was also present at the proceedings, said she had no money to retain a lawyer, and was advised by the RM to go to the Legal Aid Council (LAC) is a statutory entity under the Ministry of Justice.
