Dancehall star J. Capri is still in an induced coma, but her vital signs have improved significantly in the last 24 hours after emergency surgery was performed yesterday.

"We are really grateful to the donors who came in to give blood, but we are asking others to please contribute as her blood count is extremely low. She really lost a lot of blood, when she came in her blood was at 2 when it should have been 12, now it is up to 8," Kenneth Phillips, father of singer J Capri, told

He is imploring members of the public to continue donating blood to assist in his daughter's recovery. He also thanked the young man who was first on the scene of his daughter's accident and who made the initial calls to the family and to the emergency services.

"I don't know his name, but he used her phone to contact the family, he called the ambulance, and he gave us all her personal belongings, money, purse, iPhone. I really want to thank him so much because it could have been so different but for his help," Mr. Phillips said.

J Capri, whose given name is Jordan Phillips, reportedly lost control of her Mercedes-Benz which hit a wall before overturning along Barbican Road in St Andrew, early Monday morning.

She did an emergency surgery at the University Hospital of the West Indies in Kingston and is in an induced coma.

"Her vital signs are good, her blood pressure is good, her breathing is good. She is still in an induced coma so that he brain is less active. It is good that she is so strong but there must be less activity so there is nothing to interrupt the healing process. She suffered serious head trauma, but the doctors will be  doing a CAT scan tomorrow to see if the swelling on her brain has decreased," he said.

J Capri, who is signed to Head Concussion Records, is known for songs such as 'Pull Up to Mi Bumper' , 'Wine and Kotch' and 'Reverse It'.
